    World U20 Championships - the greek team

    The 17th World U20 Championships (a competition which started on 1986 in Athens) will take place in Tampere on the 10th-15th of July

    Christos Frantzeskakis, who will compete in HT, has the world leading performance. On the other hand, Emmanouel Karalis will not attend the Championships due to an injury that cost him the rest of the outdoor season

    The greek team (PB/SB):

    Men

    1.500 m.: Giorgos Miliaras - 3.45.56
    400m. h.: Aris Dritsas - 51.46
    3.000m. st.: Nikos Sakis - 9.02.44
    10.000m.: Marios Anagnostou - 30.10.39
    10.000m. walk: Giorgos Tzatzimakis - 42.48.83/43.48.38

    4x100 m.: Sotiris Gkaragkanis, Sotiris Komianos, Vaggelis Kaikis, Mihalis Paylidis, Giannis Granitsiotis

    HJ: Antonis Merlos - 2,20m./2,18m.
    LJ: Alexis Argyropoulos - 7,63m.
    TJ: Andreas Pantazis - 15,83m.

    SP: Odysseas Mouzenidis - 20,70m.
    SP: Iasonas Machairas - 19,49m.
    HT: Christos Frantzeskakis - 81,32m.
    HT: Kostas Zaltos - 72,30m.

    Women

    PV: Ariadni Adamopoulou - 4,15m.
    SP: Maria Magkoulia - 15,25m./15,02m

    Gold by Merlos, Bronze with NJR by Mouzenidis

    A gold and a bronze medal earned the greek team during the World Junior Championships
    -> Results

    Antonis Merlos won the mens HJ clearing 2,23m. in his first attempt, as the Mexican Vilches did too.
    Both decided not to compete in a tie-break procedure, so 2 golds were awarded.

    Odysseas Mouzenidis was third in mens SP (6kg) setting a new NJR with 21,07m.
    Cypriot George Koniarakis was 7th in men's DT with 58,04.

    Nikos Sakis running sub9 min PB in 3000m steeple qualified for the final - and was 10th with 9.02.45.
    George Tzatzimakis was 11th in men's 10000m RaceWalk in PB 42.03.85.

    The mens 4x100m. relays team (Papadopoulos,Kaikis,Gravvanis,Garaganis) was 12th in 40.78

    Greece was 16th at medal table. First with 6 golds was Kenya (and will probably be the following host of the event)
