After the Greek National Championships, the Hellenic Federation announced the team that will represent Greece at the WC2011 (Daegu, 27/8 - 4/9)

110m H - Constantinos Douvalidis 13.55
LJ - Louis Tsatoumas 8.26
HJ - Dimitris Chondrokoukis 2.31
HJ - Constantinos Baniotis 2.28
PV - Constantinos Filippidis 5.73
JT - Gervasios Filippidis 82.38
JT - Spiros Lebesis 81.12

3km st. - Irene Kokkinariou 9.39.53
TJ - Paraskevi Papachristou 14.72
TJ - Nike Paneta 14.55
PV - Nikolia Kiriakopoulou 4.70

All the above surpassed the standards of the Hellenic Federation during 2011.

-Lykourgos Tsakonas (U23 European Champion at 200m) decided not to compete.
-Sofia Ifantidou -7thlon- was not included although she surpassed the standard in 2010.
-None of the 3 women Marathon runners, who were at the top-10 of Athens (Gold) Marathon 2010 were included in the team.
-None of the athletes who achieved the IAAF standard, but not the Hellenic Federation's one, were included either.

Constantinos Filippidis cleared 5,65m at mens PolaVault and will be at the events final -on Monday. 11 athletes passed 5,65m and 5 more 5,50m without any false and qualified to the final, but not the 2009-winner, Steve Hooker.

Irene Kokkinariou had a god race till the half of the womens 3km steeple but afterthen got very tired and finished last in 10'15"18.

3 women from Kenya won the first final, the Marathon race. Kiplagat was first in 2:28'43.

For he first time took place a Preliminary Round at both Mens and Womens 100m, where did compete atlhetes who didnt set the standards

After the Marathon race, at the 10km womens race the first 3 athletes (and fourth too) where from Kenya. The winner was Cheruiyot in 30'48"98

Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou cleared 4,55m at the womens polevault and will be at the events final - on Tuesday. Kyriakopoulou despite the fever she had, cleared at her 3rd attempt the 4,55m and the 4,40m -inbetween the 4,50m at her first attempt.

At the mens 110m hurdles, Constantinos Douvalidis did 13"59 and was not qualified to the semis

Valeriy Borchin (RUS) won once more the mens 20km walk.

Usain Bolt did a false start (reaction: -0.104) and was disqualified at the mens 100m final. His teammate Johan Blake (JAM) won the race in 9"92 (-1,4m/")

At the mens 10km final, Mo Farh didnt keep the first place and the winner was Jeilan (ETH)

Trey Hardee (USA) won the Decathlon, with 8607pts. Suarez was close to take the silver but lost from Ashton Eaton just by 4pts.

Britney Reese (USA) won the womens LongJump with her first attempt in 6,82m then she had 5 x. Close to her, Kucherenko jumped 6,77m and Radevica 1cm less

Yanfeng Li (CHI) won the womens DiscusThrow - 66,52m. Mueller and Barrios came after

Constantinos Filippidis equaled his national record (5,75m.) at the mens poleVault and finished 6th.
Pawel Wojciechowski (POL)won clearing 5,90m, same performance as Borges from Cuba who set NR. Just third was Renaud Lavillenie with 5,85m

At the mens 110m hurdles, D.Robles (CUB) won in 13"14 but after he was disqualified due to obstructsion to Liu, who finished 3rd. Second -and then the winner, was Jason Richardson (USA) with 13"16 (-1,1m/")

At the womens 100m race, the winner was Carmelita Jeter in 10"90 (-1,4m/"). 2nd place for Veronica Campbell-Brown ((JAM) in 10"97 from lane 8, and very close to her was Kelly-Ann Baptiste (TRI) with 10"98 and Shelly-Ann Fraser - Pryce (JAM) 10"99.

At the womens 400m, Amantle Montsho from Botswana kept the first place running in 49.56 -NR, although Alysson Felix (USA) tried hard at the last metres but finished after 0"03

Valeri Adams-Villi (NZL) won for 3rd time in a row the womens ShotPut with 21,24m setting NR & CR.

At the mens HammerThrow, Koji Murofushi won with 81,24m. Krisztián Pars (HUN) did 81,18m at his last throw.

Dimitris Chondrokoukis cleared the qualification's standard of 2,31m at his first attempt -like all the previous heights and will be at the mens HighJump Final on Thursday (->startlist (http://daegu2011.iaaf.org/documents/pdf/4147/AT-HJ-M-f----.SL2.pdf))
Constantinos Baniotis cleared 2,28m at his second attempt and was 15th.

At the womens TripleJump, both greek athletes didnt qualify. Paraskevi Papachristou did 14,05m. -16th- and Niki Panetta 13,97m. -20th. The 12th athlete did 14,15m

At the 7thlon, after 6 events the Russian Tatyana Chernova leads with over than 100pts from the European Champion Jessica Ennis, and aims to set a great PB too.

Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou, despite some health problems, cleared 4,65m and was 8th at the womens PoleVault final. Isinbayeva (RUS) was just 6th! The winner was Murer (BRA) with 4,85m -AR. Second place for Strutz (GER) 4,80m -NR.

The Heptathon event won Tatyana Chernova (RUS) with 6880pts -PB and all-time #9. Ennis (GBR) was second with 6751pts

The 19-years old Kirani Games (GRN) won the mens 400m in 44"60 -PB. Second finished L.Merritt (USA) in 44"63.

Louis Tsatoumas failed to qualify to the Mens LongJump final. With best attempt the 8,01m, was just 1cm away from the final, and was 14th overall. The world champion Dwight Phillips (USA) had the best performance - 8,32m

Dimitris Chondrokoukis cleared 2,32m at his 3rd attempt, equaled his PB and was 5th at the mens HighJump final. The winner was Jesse Williams (USA) with 2,35m, like Dmitrik (RUS)

Savigne (CUB) was injured during womens triple jump final. Saladuha (UKR) won the event with 14,94m.
Demus (USA) won the womens 400m hurdles in 52"47 which is #3 all-time performance

Alexandra Papageorgiou was the last of the greek athletes competing at the World Championship. She threw the hammer 66,77m and was 22th at the qualifications

Usain Bolt, after his DQ at the 100m final, aims to defend his 200m title. At the 1st round, he ran in 20"30.

Amazing womens javelin throw final, where Marija Abakumova (RUS) won with 71,99 μ.
David Storl won the mens shotput at his last attempt, with 21,64m

Saly Pearson beat the US girls, the CR and the ...daily programme's curse, and won the 100m hurdles in 12"28!!

Usain Bolt was amazing at mens 200m final and won in 19"40. Dix did 19"70 and Christophe Lemaitre was third in 19"80 -second faster European all-time

Vlasic and Thorkildsen didnt succeed to defend their title and plased 2nd. Chicherova won the womens HighJump and deZordo the mens JavelinThrow

Α great conclusion of the 13th World Athletics Championships. The 4x100m Jamaican relay team won in world record, 37"04 (Carter, Frater, Blake, Bolt)
At the womens event, despite the Jamaican NR with 41"70, the winner was the US team in 41"54.

At the womens 800m, Savinova (RUS) won at the last metres in 1'55"87 -PB, and let Semenya (RSA) at the second place.
The former 400m runner and 20 years old Christian Taylor (USA) won the mens Triple Jump with 17,96m. Idowu did 17,70m.

Abel Kirui (KEN) won the Mens Marathon race, and the Kenyan team won the Marathons World Cup.
